This wooden mechanical gearbox is more than just a decorative box—it has a fully functioning gear mechanism that operates the lid.
Turn the front gear to the left to open the box and turn it to the right to close it. The interlocking gears work together to raise and lower the lid, giving this piece a fun and satisfying mechanical action.
The box is laser-cut from 5mm birch-faced plywood, allowing the intricate gear patterns and detailed components to be cut with precision. The mechanical gears ride on stainless steel pins, providing sturdy support for the moving parts.
The inside of the box is finished with soft black velvet flocking, giving it a clean, finished look and creating a soft surface for storing small items.
